Yesterday i lost my glasses. And decided to document my frustration until……… I really wish this was planned, but i gotta admit, I took a big L.

“[defeated tone] So… I have…. lost my glasses. And I’m afraid to leave my bed because I can’t see… and I fear I might step on my glasses. So I’m sitting here with my bee pillow pet… and I don’t know what to do.

I need to get up. I wanna get food. I gotta exfoliate and moisturize, cause my skin looking atrocious right now.

What if… [deep breath] What if I die here, y’all? Would anyone even miss me?Like, really?

I want Enrique Iglesias to come save me. Like, the ceiling opens up and like, he comes down from like, a heavenly cloud with my glasses, and he’s singing. [imitating Enrique Iglesias] ‘Would you dance? If I asked you to dance? I will be your hero baby!’ And I just take my glasses and I’m like ‘Thanks yo! Put a shirt on homie!’

But life, life don’t work… life… [prolonged silence]

[camera zooms in on glasses]

[long silence; light chuckle] Enrique…”

This should win an Oscar

“Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry?” Dumbledore asked calmly.

The word ‘calmly’ can hold different meanings in different circumstances. If you were to pass someone a bucket of water calmly when their house was burning down, it could suggest that you were the sort of brave individual who was always prepared to combat the sources of arson when they occur. If you were to ask a nervous bank teller to fill a sack with money while calmly pointing a gun at their head, it might mean that you were the kind of villainous person who practiced such odious and criminal activities on a regular basis. Or if, like me, you were to sit calmly typing the next chapter of your chronicle in the lives of some unfortunate young children, while all around you the kitchen of the reputable restaurant that you were hiding in was slowly filling with sand, it would indicate that you have a life that is often filled with peril and misfortune, and that you were bound by duty to complete your task, no matter how miserable.

Of course, the word ‘calmly’ is never used to indicate a person flying into a rage and shouting your words angrily. ‘Angrily’ is in fact an antonym of ‘calmly’, an antonym being a word with entirely the opposite meaning of the original, such as ‘villain’ and ‘volunteer’, ‘birthday party’ and ‘tragic fire’, or ‘author’ and ‘happy person’.

Now, obviously, a well-read and distinguished director of cinema would never mistake a word with its antonym. That would be preposterous, a word which here means ‘create an incredibly out of character scene and confuse the audience.’

caprhodey:

anyway, here are some mcu Facts:

  • The only people in the entirety of civil war to actually give more than two seconds of thought into the fact that countless amounts of people had been killed at the hands of the Avengers are T’challa, Rhodey, and Tony. That’s it’s. Nat is there because she believes in having a buffer between the Avengers and the public, and I don’t even count Peter because he’s only used to try and arrest Team Cap. He’s not motivated by the accords
  • Speaking of Peter, the reason why Tony actually recruits him is because he’s a non lethal form of capturing Steve & co. He’s there to “keep his distance and web them up.” More than that, Team Iron Man literally had no clue that the fight would get violent. They all really believed that Steve wouldn’t want to fight them because they didn’t want to fight him. Tony BEGS him not to fight, and it’s obvious that Team Iron Man is completely unprepared to actually fight (Peter: lummm…they’re not stopping…”) also why y’all so mad at tony for bringing Peter but not at steve for throwing a TRUCK AT HIM
  • The reason why tony fans harp so much on his PTSD is because he is one of the only characters to actually be shown suffering the symptoms, and may be the only one to actualy have the words “panic attack” used. The mcu has largely ignored Sam and Rhodey (and we ALL KNOW WHY), and cherry picks what they want to show from Bruce, and for some reason they have a personal vendetta against actually ever seeing Steve Rogers get the chance to heal from his experiences but thats a different rant. When it comes to seeing anxiety on the big screen there really isn’t anyone else. I mean, you wanna call Steve brooding out into space, or Nat calling herself a monster because she’s infertile good representation, go right ahead, but as someone who grew up with emotionally/physically abusive parents, and has gone through a period a self sabotage where I forced my friends away from me and isolated myself because I didn’t think I deserved to have people around me, I’m gonna take the guy who shows me that, thanks
  • What I mostly see is a lot of explanation and theorizing when it comes to tony and ptsd/anxiety, not really excusing. (Now, what I do see is a lot of people talking about Sam, Nat and Wanda’s experience when it’s convenient and then completely forgetting about them once their done. Aka, why is Sam’s ptsd only ever talked about when y’all wanna crap on tony? Why is it cool for y’all to literally harass an actor for wanting his character to be with Nat one minute and then act like she’s your favorite character in the mcu when you feel like shitting on tony? Hmm?)
  • Listen, I actually really enjoy Wanda’s character because she’s interesting and troubled (and a lot like tony buuuuuut). But, just like that doesn’t erase tony’s fuck ups, her sad backstory does not erase the fact that she joined forces with hydra, and then once again voluntarily joined forces with Ultron and only changed sides after she realize that oh shit if he destroys the world that means me too! (Which is like, a perfect parallel to tony seeing his name on a rogue bomb in Iron Man 1 but again, what the fuck ever right? lmao)
  • Obadiah Stane did not spend however many years grooming his godson and pay terrorist to try and kill him for y’all to disregard his character like this. Hey, while we’re giving fun facts, in Iron Man 1 it’s stated that there was a period of time in between Howard’s death and Tony taking over Stark Industries that Obie was in uncontested control of the company doing God knows what. The man literally called himself the Iron MONGER. I don’t know how much more blatant they could have been but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
  • Ho Yinsen did not spend his last days on earth helping a white man who inadvertently helped put him in a cave for y’all to act like his death had no affect on Tony’s decision to change stark industries after Afghanistan. “Tony only stopped weapons because he almost died from it if he hadn’t blah blah blah blah blah” shut up. Yinsen is the driving force behind Tony’s origins. It’s Yinsen’s influence and death that makes Tony completely scrap weapons all together. I read something once that was like “why didn’t tony just ~redo~ his weapons division instead of completely erasing it.” And if it weren’t for Yinsen, he probably would have just tried to find out who was double dealing and then just fire them, but that didn’t happen, now did it?
  • Adding to that, soon as Tony found out what was going on he shut down his entire weapons manufacturing portion of the company, and worked his but off to introduce new initiatives to try and start righting his wrongs (green energy, the clean ups that SI handles)
  • Pepper Potts and Tony Stark are the Perfect kind of snarky dorks who challenge each other and push each other’s button but still know how to have fun together and respect and love the Fuck out of one another and I need y’all to keep her name out of your mouths
  • James Rupert “Rhodey” Rhodes did not enter MIT at 17, graduate with a degree in AEROSPACE ENGINEERING (he’s a rocket scientist y’all) and become a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force for you to act like he just gets bossed around by his scrawny white friend. He stays with Tony because he loves him and has since 198something. Y’all can keep his name out your mouths, too
  • Tony’s entire character is based in 2 things, 1) looking to the future/having hope in the future/saving the world now so others can perfect in in the future, 2) actions and the consequences to said actions. You wanna know when he’s faced consequences? Iron Man 1, he literally gets blown up by his own weapon and has to undergo forced body modification to keep tony pieces of shrapnel from piercing his heart. Iron Man 2, he’s still dealing with that shrapnel problem when the only thing that’s keeping him alive is also slowly poisoning him to death. Iron Man 3, he watches Pepper fall to her death. Age of Ultron he looses JARVIS. Civil War he looses everyone else. Like, if you don’t think that there have been consequences for what he does wrong then you haven’t been watching.
  • T’challa and Tony say maybe two words to each other? They certainly don’t HATE each other and I have no idea where anyone would have gotten the from other than weird wishful thinking. Would Shuri like Tony? I’m honestly not sure. But you can be damn sure that he would like/be absolutely fascinated by her. Look at him with Peter and Helen Cho. Look at him with the MIT students. Look at his comic counterpart with Riri Williams. He revels in people outsmarting him because futurists want the world after them to only get better, and if everyone is only as smart as him, then they can only do as much as he has
  • Tony and T’challa’s situations regarding Bucky are completely different and if y’all weren’t the way that y’all are you would actually acknowledge that instead of trying to force a comparison where it doesn’t belong. T’Challa spends the entire film trying to KILL BUCKY. The whole movie. He’s literally only on team iron man to try and get to Bucky. His rage is only tamed when his finds out that the Winter Soldier didn’t kill his father at all. Tony on the other hand literally seeing tws strangle Maria and bash Howard’s face in. Now, Howard is kinda like “meh” but Tony’s mom was his savior in that house and to watch someone you love get the life literally squeezed out of them by a guy standing five feet away from you is gonna make you mad. Like, I wanna meet y’all stone willed people out here who are trying to say that you wouldn’t have an angry outburst at that because you all need to teach a class or something. (You know who you can compare his reaction to? Wanda, but y’all don’t wanna do that cuz it makes too much sense)
  • Tony Stark is a 100% a liberal, and if you don’t agree, you’ve been watching the wrong movies. Iron Man 1, okay, maybe it’s a little sketchy, but post Afghanistan? Please. Who was it again that refused to give world leaders a suit because he knew what chaos they would cause with it? Who was it that handed over his company to a woman (and its literally shown in IM2 the he gets backlash over this and that people had a hard time accepting Pepper as the new CEO)? Who was it that funded the entirety of a bunch of college students thesis projects because “problem they faced are the worst the world has ever seen”? His stance in Civil War is LITERALLY a liberal perspective (increased government involvement, oversights for those in power, protection for the general public from those who had the power to take it away)
  • And okay, this has nothing to do with Tony but as a Black marvel fan, I’m super sick of Charles Spencer, Lagos, and Johannesburg getting ignored or swept under the rug? Y’all really think is a coincidence that the people who suffered were brown and black? Y’all go on and on about Sokovia but what about the brown and black lives lost at the hands of Wanda (and Steve’s to blame too because he had no business bringing her out there and then trying to insist that what happened was okay)? Where’s there angry hate posts??? Hmmm??? Fuck off.
  • Y’all annoy the fuck outta me and test my patience everyday and my only saving grace is that I know for a fact that Anthony Edward will be in both Infinity War and Avengers 4 and that he will still be Marvel’s biggest hero and that he’ll probably science up a way to outlast every other character goodnight
