What does it mean when the State goes to such lengths to avoid upholding even a facade of accountability? They’re afraid. Because it’s not just the cops, not just the courts, this runs to the heart of the USA, of America. From settler colonialism, to white supremacy, to capitalism, the Police exist to uphold these processes which are ongoing, under the guise of “Law and Order”. They’re scared that they can be stopped. They’re scared we can stop them.
it must have been a trip for Adam when he first met Gansey because this untouchable rich kid immediately unloads everything about his alternate life as a tomb raider trying to unearth the centuries-old mystery of Glendower and Adam is just, “sounds fake but i’m literally so starved of human interaction that i will now follow you to the ends of the earth in search of your super lost and super dead king”
Consider: An interviewer asks Andrew and one of his teammates about some of the players on the other team and when asked about Neil, Andrew’s teammate says “Neil Josten is married to exy” and Andrew immediately interrupts “No. My name’s Andrew, not exy.”
And that’s how the public and Andrew’s team find out about Andrew and Neil and how everyone who already knew about them finds out they’re married.
The interviewer says “Hold on a second, you’re married to Neil Josten?” And Andrew says “I better be or that ceremony was an even bigger waste of time than I thought it was.” Andrew completely ignores any further questions.
