instead of encouraging poor people to walk out on their jobs as a form of protest and shaming them and talking down to them when they say they can’t because doing so will most likely get them fired and lead to total financial ruin and homelessness not only for them but for their children/families, maybe instead try educating them about how to form unions and fight for stronger workers’ protections, encourage them to vote, consider starting some kind of fund to help poor people get what they need to vote (voter ID + transportation to the polls), and encourage them to run for office so that they can actually end up in a place in their jobs where they CAN walk out to protest without it meaning that they’ll lose their employment.
especially consider this if you’re a rich person talking about how poor people need to “make sacrifices” (i.e. lose their jobs and end up on the street) in order to make progress. poor people already make sacrifices every single day. don’t give them this bullshit about how if they don’t walk out on their jobs without any legal/financial protections (like the kind a union could provide) it means they don’t actually want to have a better life.
