the Kinsey scale was invented in 1948 by Alfred Kinsey. After interviewing a person he would rate them between 0 (only attracted to the opposite sex) and 6 (only attracted to the same sex) with everything in-between being some level of bisexuality. If the person showed no sexual interest they were listed as X, meaning that over 60 years ago Mr. Kinsey and his team acknowledged that asexuality does exist and included it in their formal study of human sexuality

And to this day, TV shows still can’t call people bisexual
