“It’s just a morality tale, it’s obvious which gift is best, which one you’d choose—”

The three of them spoke at the same time: Hermione said, “the cloak,” Ron said, “the wand,” and Harry said, “the stone.”

They looked at each other, half surprised, half amused.

No guys but this is so important. SO IMPORTANT.

First we have Harry, who, like Dumbledore, would choose to revive a loved one over all else. But remember, in the story, the brother with the stone revived his loved one, who no longer belonged in this world, and therefore killed himself.

Harry chooses death.

Then we have Ron, who has always been overshadowed by his brothers, who would choose power over all else. But again, remember in the original tale the brother with the wand boasted his power and was murdered for it.

Ron chooses death.

And finally, we have Hermione, brightest witch of her age, who chooses logic over all else. In the story, the brother with the cloak hid from death, until he chooses to pass it on to his son and greet death as a friend

Hermione chooses life.
